White Spirit Samoyeds

Welcome to White Spirit Samoyeds.  I started in the breed in 2001 when my house became a home to my first Samoyed show dog.  That dog is now know as Ch. Wolf River's Shogun.  One year later, I added a female puppy, Ch. NorthFace's Mikaela White Spirit.  These two dog are the foundation of my bloodline.  They are linebred from a well known working kennel.  Maintaining the original standard and the working heritage of this ancient dog is the goal of this bloodline and it is my goal to continue in the same vein.  I have had the privilege of adding to my pack, with dogs that have been bred here at White Spirit.

 

I am very proud of the bloodline and feel it is a privilege to be able to breed Samoyeds.

 

Before I have a litter of puppies, I give a lot of consideration to each breeding.  All of my dog have their health clearances and champion ancestry.  My dogs live in the house with me, able to come in and go out as they please.  My puppies are born in my home, raised with a lot of love.  I only place puppies with people who make them family members.

 

Although the Samoyed is the only breed for me, they are not for everyone.  They demand a lot of attention and can be a challenge to raise.

 

I also actively participate in conformation showing.  I am proud to show my own dogs.  My dogs and I have started in agility.  It is a great way to connect with and train a dog.  The dogs love it and so do I.

We do love puppies!

There are two questions you should ask yourself before deciding on a puppy: 1) Do you have the time to raise a puppy? and 2) Is this the right breed for your lifestyle?  Only you will know if you have the time to spend raising a puppy the right way.  And you have the research the breed before you can answer the second question.  The first year is an important time in a puppy's life.  If you want a good companion for many years to come, you have to take the time to raise the puppy.

Once you have answered those questions, you will need to choose a reputable breeder.  Start this process on the Samoyed Club of America's breeder referral page.

At White Spirit Samoyeds, we breed for the best gene pools.  By breeding the best, you get the best! This insures that in the future of the breed, the breed will continue being a sound, healthy, working dog.  I thank the breeders of the past who had the integrity to breed according to the Samoyed standard so that we still have the privilege of sharing our lives with this ancient working dog from the Arctic.  Those of you who have already had the joy of being owned by a Samoyed understand our love for the breed!

I feel it is a privilege to breed Samoyed dogs.  Here at White Spirit, we take a lot of time with each litter.  Raising a litter is a full time job!  For a puppy, the day starts when the sun comes up and ends when the sun goes down.  Thank goodness, they do sleep!
My puppies are born in a room in my home where they are closely watched.  After a few weeks, I begin to move them around the house during the day so they can experience different sounds as they grow.  So by the time they are 4 weeks old, they are ready to leave the whelping box and be moved to a larger area.  This gives them room to grow and develop socially with one another.  They have access to an outdoor play area during the day.  Here they begin to eat solid food and learn there is a right place to potty!  There are lots of toys so they can interact with each other. This is a great place for each puppy to develop his/her personality.  These personalities help us decide which is the best home for each puppy.
At 7 weeks, they have been weaned from their mother's milk and are completely eating solid food.  They are fed 4 times a day!
At 8 weeks, we evaluate the puppies for movement and structure.  We are looking to see if any of the puppies have what we are looking for to add to our bloodline.  We also decide which puppy is destined for a show home or a companion home.  Placing a puppy in a companion home does not mean the puppy isn't show quality.  There might not be a show home available for the puppy, so the puppy is placed in a loving home.
